Five Finger Rule
Find a "just right" book
Choose a book and read the first page or two Put one finger up for every word you don't know If five of your fingers go up while reading choose another book If only two or three fingers go up you've found a "just right" book. HAPPY READING!! I Pick Books
TOOLS GOOD READERS USE
When I don't know a word I can ... Look at the first and last lett er in the word. Look at the picture for a clue. Look at the number of letters in the word. Look at the patterns. Loook at the phonograms I know. Use the phonograms to sound out th e word. Ask if the word I say makes sense in the sentence. Ask myself, Does that word look right for what I said? Think about the words around the word I don't know. Will they help me figure out the word? |
Book Care Rules1. Keep books away from food or drinks.
2.Wash hands before reading a book. 3.Take care in using a book and report all damages to the library clerk for proper fixing. 4.Use a book mark for saving your place in a book. Never use a pencil as a book mark. Do not turn down pages or turn book on its 'face'. 5.Keep books dry at all times. On rainy days be sure books are in plastic bags or back packs. 6.Keep books away from babies and pets. |
